Death
Colan Brice Furr, 78, of 732 Efird St., Albemarle, died Wednesday, July 10, 2002, in Britthaven of Piedmont. His funeral will be at graveside at 2 p.m. Friday in Fairview Memorial Park with the Rev. Howard Benoy officiating. Born Aug. 19, 1923, in Ashley Heights, Hoke County, he was a son of the late Tillman Lee Furr and the late Minnie Green Furr Hinson and was married to the late Pauline Bowers Furr. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the DAV and the Rifle Association. A son, Darrell Lynn Furr, and a sister, Clara Redwine, preceded him in death. He is survived by a son, William Fred Hunsucker of Candor; a daughter, Teresa Lamonds of Troy; four sisters, Edna Bailey, Alma Harwood and Ramelle Norton, all of Albemarle, and Eltis Lankford of Thomasville; and two brothers, The Rev. Mahlon Furr of Albemarle and J.D. Furr of Richfield. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. At other times they will be at the home of Alma Harwood, 33673 Old Herlocker Road, Albemarle.
