"A. Lenox" is on the death certificate of John J. Lenox. I am guessing he is another son of Charles Lenox, because J.J. is buried in the same cemetery as many of Charles' Missouri descendants, and because Bob Lenox (grandson of J.J., now deceased) used to say there were two generations between him and the civil war and another two generations between his grandfather and the Revolution. We know that Charles served during the Revolution and that all of his sons were too young to have fought in the Revolution.
J.J.'s death certificate incorrectly says A. Lenox was from Tennessee. On the 1900 census J.J. Lenox listed his father as being from Kentucky.
I recently discovered a possible relative of John J. Lenox whose name was Alexander (or Alec/Alex for short). I found him in a newspaper article at a wedding of one of John J.'s daughters. At first I thought he was another son of John J., but I tracked down his death certificate and found he was a son of William T. Lenox.
It is a bit like putting a jigsaw puzzle together figuring out how these people are related and unfortunately I haven't found anything yet besides John J.'s death certificate that mentions his father.
