His name was spelled "Bisbedge" on the ship's passengerlist.
Family members have since spelled it in various ways such as Bisbredge, Besbridge, Besbrech, Besbitch, Bresbresch, Bisbe, Besbey, Bisby and Bisbee.
Thomas was as probably from the parish of St. Peter's in Sandwich,
England where the rector, Thomas Warren, on March 13, 1634, along with
Thomas Harmon, vicar of Headcorn, on March 6, 1634, furnished the
necessary certificates fortravel aboard the "Hercules" attesting to the travellers' "conformity to the orders and discipline of the church" and swearing that they had pledged an oath to its "allegiance and supremacy"
(Little's GENEALOGICAL HISTORY OF MAINE).Thomas had secured the
necessary certificates from his home parishes and hadpledged the
required oaths of allegiance and supremacy.
The ship "Hercules" landed in Scituate Harbor, MA in the spring of
1634.

CHURCH MEMBERSHIP: "Goodman Besbitch" joined Scituate church on 30 April 1637 [NEHGR 9:280]. "Brother Besbetch" was invested as deacon at Scituate on 22 February 1637/8 [NEHGR 10:37].
FREEMAN: On 2 January 1637/8, "Mr. Thomas Besbidge" was admitted a
freeman of Plymouth Colony (and therefore added to the end of the
Plymouth list of freemen of 7 March 1636/7) [PCR 1:53, 74]. "Mr. Thom[as] Besbeech" appears in the Scituate section of the 1639 Plymouth Colony list of freemen, where his nameis crossed out, and also in the Duxbury section of the same list, where his name is again crossed out [PCR 8:175]. "Mr. Thomas Besbech" appears in the Marshfield section of the 1658 and the 29 May 1670 Plymouth Colony lists of freemen [PCR 5:277, 8:201].
EDUCATION: His inventory included "his books" valued at Ð2 10s.

Plymouth petit jury, 2 January 1637/8, 6 March 1637/8 [PCR 1:74, 7:8].
Grand jury, 4 September 1638, 1 March 1641/2 (as "Mr. Thomas Besbeech," ofDuxbury) [PCR 1:87, 96, 2:34]. On 7 June 1642, "Mr.Thomas Beesbeach, for departing the Court without license, being warned to serve on the grand inquest, is fined 5s." [PCR 2:42].
ESTATE: In the 8 February 1635/6 Cambridge list of houses, "[blank]
Besbeth" had one house in town [CaTR 19]. By 6 March 1636/7, "Mr.
Besbeche" had sold to John Page of Watertown ten acres of meadow in RockyMeadow [CaTR 27, 43]. By 1639 "Thomas Besbidge" had sold to William Cutter "one house in the town with backside about half a rood ... which he bought of William Lewes" [CaBOP 54].
On 19 July 1639, "Mr. Thomas Besbeech of Duxborrow" sold to "Edmond Chaundlor of the same one acre of land lying to the north side of the lands of the said Thomas Besbeech" [PCR 12:46].
On 3 May 1642, Plymouth Court appointed a committee to "set the ancient bounds right betwixt the lands of Mr. Thomas Beesbeach and John Washbourne" [PCR 2:39, 52].
On 2 April 1647, "Thomas Besbeech of Sudbery" sold to "Mr. John Reiner of Plymouth ... allthat his house and housing and sixty acres of upla
