John Tredinnick

(Calc 1808 - )

A couple of databases at worldconnect.rootsweb.com had a John Tredinnick born 10 Aug 1808 in St. Agnes near Truro, Cornwall, England. Given that the John Tredinnick on the Wisconsin census said he was born in England, was born in the same year, and the name is of Cornish origins, I'm pretty sure this is the same person.

Saint Agnes is a parish. Old English census records were done by parish. There is a "Cornwall Online Census Project" at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kayhin/149i.html. They didn't have the St. Agnes parish transcribed yet. However, they did have this at another site, www.cornish-ancestors.co.uk. John did not appear on the 1841 census, although there were some other Tredinnicks listed. Perhaps he had already immigrated to the US.

According to FamilySearch.org the 10 Aug 1808 date is the christening, not the birth, and the 14 Aug 1808 date that I had before was also a christening date but was a different John Tredinnick with parents Richard and Ann (unless Richard is a middle name?). So, I have changed the birth date to 1808 since I'm not sure that a more accurate birth date has really been determined. Also, I wonder how the original researcher knew which John Tredinnick was which (or if they were the same person).
