Individual Details
Hugh Kirkpatrick
(Abt 1696 - Abt 18 May 1768)
According to some, Hugh Kirkpatrick was a Presbyterian minister or "Elder in the West Nottingham Presbyterian Church".
"Some Kirkpatrick descendants claim descent from Thomas Kirkpatrick and Isabel Sandilands. This pedigree is 11 generations removed from Robert II (King of Scotland) and Elizabeth More." This is somewhat contentious, but an interesting idea that we could be descended from a Stewart King. It would be the first time I've every found somebody truly famous in our family tree (if it is true).
"The [Kirkpatrick] clan takes its name from the church of Saint Patrick in the parish of Closeburn in Dumfriesshire, Scotland."
The Kirkpatrick Clan is claimed as a sept (sub-clan) by Clan Colquhoun (pronounced ca-hoon) and its modern Clan Chief in Scotland. Kirkpatrick descendants can join the Colquhoun Clan Society and be considered clan members.
Lots of interesting stuff here. Definitely deserves more research.
