Individual Details
Illah Dorothy Belle Pinkley
(12 Sep 1921 - 7 Nov 2004)
"Aunt Dorothy" ran a genealogy "Surname Registry" in the mid to late 1980's. This registry (three 3-ring notebooks full of names and addresses) and some related correspondence were found with the papers of Dorothy's sister, Pauline, after Pauline's death. When she started the registry she was living in Mounds, Okalahoma, but she went to live with Pauline in Lesterville in September of 1985. All of the letters are addressed to the Oklahoma location, although some are dated after she moved to Lesterville. The earliest letter is dated 28 Feb 1984 and the latest 25 Feb 1986. She apparently also had a list of Virginia marriages from 1700-1850 which covered over 80,000 surnames. This list is mentioned in one of the letters, and a few marriages (2 pages) copied out of the list were also found with Pauline's papers.
