Timothy Putnam was born before 26 Apr 1691 in Salem Village, Essex CO, MA. (458) He was baptized on 26 Apr 1691 in Salem Village, MA (459) (460) He died on 3 Nov 1763 in Tewksbury, Middlesex CO, MA. (461) (462) There is a second death date one year earlier. He died after a long sickness. He was a weaver 1713 to 1743 in Newbury, Essex CO, MA. (463) Timothy Putnam, in early manhood left Danvers, MA, settling in West Newbury among his kinspeople the Baileys. In deeds of date from 1713 to 1743, he is styled a weaver. He inherited property from Joshua Bailey the husband of his Aunt Experience and about 1744 removed to Tewsbury, MA; thither also many of the Baileys had removed. From the church records we learn that on the 1st of April 1744, there were received into the church at Tewksbury, from the 3rd church at Newbury, "widow Experience Putnam," David Bailey and wife and Jonathan Bailey. On the 17th Sept, 1748. Mrs. Anna and Elenor Putnam; on the 3 Sept 1749, Mr Nathan Bailey and Elizabeth his wife all from the 3rd church at Newbury, and on the 13 Jan 1760, Mr Timothy Putnam and wife from the 1st church at Newbury. Doubtless all of these had been residents of Tewksbury for many years but had not obtained a dismissal from their old church. Timothy Putnam, Jr and his brother Samuel united with the Tewksbury church, the first on 29 Jul, 1750, the second on 29 Apr, 1753.
Timothy was ensign in Captain Thomas Pike's company from Newbury, from 29 March to 8 Sept 1775, in the Crown Point Expedition. He was promoted Lieutenant 9 Sept, 1775, and served till 17 Dec, 1775. (Volume 94, Massachusetts Archives).
Administration on the estate of Timothy Putnam of Tewksbury was granted 22 Nov, 1762. In 1769, Elenor Putnam his daughter complained of the administrator, Nathan Bailey.
He was married to Eleanor Poore (daughter of Samuel Poore and Rachel Bailey) on 25 Sept 1718 in Newbury,MA. (464) (465) Eben Putnam has Eleanor's surname spelled "Doare". Newbury Vital Records have the surname spelled "Poare". Eleanor Poore was born on 25 Dec 1689 in Newbury, Essex CO, MA. (466) She died on 5 May 1765 in Tewksbury, Middlesex CO., MA. (467) (468) Died of a fever. Timothy Putnam and Eleanor Poore had 6 children: Thomas, Elizabeth, Anna, Eleanor, Timothy, Samuel
