================================
Albert Pumper married Marie Skluzacek in Bohemia before they came to America. Albert and Marie came to America with her parents, Jacob and Anna, and their children. Jacob's oldest child John stayed behind in Bohemia until a later date. The rest left Bremen, Germany in October 1859 on the ship "Edward" and landed in New York on 31 Dec 1859. Then they took an other ship, it may have been a freighter, to New Orleans and made it to St Louis by Jan 6, 1860 when they were stopped by ice. They may have spent the rest of the winter in a Czech community near Dubuque, IA and made it to New Prague by the spring. First they settled south of New Prague in Wheatland Twp, Le Sueur County. Later Jacob gave the farm to Joseph and Marie. They divided it into two farms. One was known as the Albert Pumper place. John arrived with his wife, Marie Krenikova and their family in 1868. He settled north of New Prague in Helena, Twp, Scott Co. Jacob moved to property next to John's family.
