Jonathan was b 13 July 1715 in Salem Village (2761, 2762). He was baptized on 24 Jul 1715 in Salem Village (2763). He d Dec 1762 (2764).
He married Sarah Perley (dau of Lieutenant Thomas Perley and Hannah Cogswell) on 2 Dec 1736 in Salem (2765, 2766). Sarah b 12 May 1716 in Boxford, Essex, MA (2767).

Capt Jeremiah Putnam b 31 Oct 1737 in Salem Village (2768, 2769, 2770). He was on 1790 Danvers census (2771). 3-1-3. He d 16 Sept 1799 (2772). He was bap in Salem Village(2773). He was buried Plains Cemetery (2774). Jeremiah served in the French and Indian Wars from February to December, 1756, in the company of Capt Andrew Fuller, at Crown Point, and again from March to November, 1758, under the same commander. He enlisted 6 Apr 1759, in Colonel Plaisted's regiment. Whe the Lexington Alarm od 19 Apr 1775, he was one of those who responded being a member of Capt Jeremiah Page's company. After the fight at Lexington he enlisted in the army as sergeant, 11 May, 1775, and rode to the rank of captain. He was taken prisoner at Long Island at which time he was an ensign in Colonel Hutchinson's regiment. He was a brave soldier and gallant officer.
Hanson says of him, "He was a useful citizen and discharged faithfully the trusts repposed in him." Over his grave in the Plains Cemetery is a stone bearing the following epitaph: "In memory of Capt Jeremiah Putnam who died Sept 16, 1799, Aged 63 years. An officer under the Immortal Washington."

May truly say; Here lies an Honest Man."

Nathan b 8 Sep 1749 in Danvers (2794, 2795). Bap 17 Sep 1749 in Salem Village (2796, 2797). Was in 1790 Danvers census (2798). 2-2-2. He was in 1810 Topsfield census (2799), the 1820 Danvers census (2800). He d 10 Apr 1823 in Danvers (2801, 2802). Eben has the following two death dates: 13 Dec 1813 and 10 Apr 1823. The latter matches the vital record. On the 3 Feb, 1767, the guardianship of Nathan Putnam, minor child of Jonathan, was granted to Gideon Putnam. Nathan was a member of Capt Hutchinson's company which responded to the Lexington Alarm of 19 Apr 1775, and which suffered severly in the fight at Arlington, while making a brave stand. His brother Perley was killed.
The following advertisement appeared in the "New England Chronicle, or Essex Gazette" for May 25, 1775.
"Lost in battle of Menotomy, by Nathan Putnam, of Capt Hutchinson's company, who was then badly wounded, A French Firelock, marked D., No.6, with a marking iron, on the breech. Said Putnam carried it to a cross Road near a mill. Whoever has said Gun in Possession, is desired to return it to Col. Mansfield of Lynn, or to the Selectmen of Danvers, and they shall be well rewarded for their trouble. Danvers, May 16, 1775.
He re-enlisted in Capt Putnam's company, 19th regiment, 6 Oct 1775. Constable 1785 and in 1787, he and Benjamin Putnam were of a committee to regulate the schools for the following winter. Menotomy is the ancient name for Arlington, between Cambridge anf Lexington.

Levi b 1 Aug 1751 in Salem Village (2803, 2804). Bap 4 Aug 1751 in Salem Village (2805, 2806). He resided in 1773 in Danvers (2807). Died before 1790 (2808).

Perley b 17 Mar 1754 in Salem Village (2809, 2810). He died on 19 Apr 1775 in Lexington, Middlesex, MA (2811). Killed at battle of Lexington.

Aaron b 6 Sep 1756 in Danvers (2812, 2813). He resided in 1790 in Fairfield, Fairfield, CT (2814). He was in 1790 Fairfield census (82).1-3-3. He died in 1801 in Greenfield Hill, Fairfield, CT (2815). He bap in Salem Village (2816). He served in the Rev in 4th Connecticut Regiment as private 1780-83.
