Col Enoch Putnam b 18 Feb 1731/32 in Salem Village (2868). Bap 26 Feb 1731/32 in Salem Village (2870, 2871 0 In 1790 Danvers census (2872) 1-1-3.
He died Danvers about 1796 (2873). Enoch lived in Danvers on the old homestead. In 1757, he was first elected to a town office, and continued for nearly forty years serving the town in one capacity or another. He held previous to the Rev, the offices of highway surveyor, warden, constable, tythingman, and during and after the arev he held still more important positions, serving on committees to see about raising the necessary men for the army, taxes, supplies of beer for the army, schools, highways, etc. He was often moderator at town meetings.

In 1775, he went to Lexington upon the alarm, as lieutenant of Capt Israel Hutchinson's company. This company suffered as much, if not more, than any other single company in that fight. Thos of it's members who were killed were Perley Putnam and Jotham Webb; Nathan Putnam was wounded.

Jethro Putnam, the son of Enoch, was also at Lexington being in Acpt Jeremiah Page's company, of which company Henry Putnam was "possibly lieutenant"???

By 1776 Enoch was captain and shortly after was commissioned colonel.

He married Hannah Putnam (dau of Lieutenant Stephen Putnam and Miriam Putnam) on 25 Apr 1754 in Danvers (2874, 2875). Eben has marriage on 12 Apr 1754. This is probably the marriage intention. Hannah bap 18 May 1735 in Salem Village (2876, 2877). She b 13 May 1735 in Salem Village (2878, 2879). Eben has birth on 13 May 1735. She d 18 Dec 1776 in Danvers (2880, 2881). Col Jethro Putnam b 22 Dec 1753 in Danvers (2882, 2883). Appeared in 1790 (2884) and 1800 Danvers census (2885. In 1810 Topsfield census (2886).
He d 16 May 1814 in Danvers (2887, 2888, 2889) Eben has death on 20 May 1815, Vital records has second death date of May 1815. The vital record lists the age at death of 58 years, This is two years less than the above birth and death dates provide. Colonel Jethro Putnam of the Danver's regiment, was at Lexington being in Capt Jeremiah Page's company, of which company Henry Putnam was lieutenant.

Fanny b 7 Aug 1765 in Danvers (2892, 2893). Another source has 1764. She d 28 Jun 1858 (2894). Died age 94 years, 10 months, 20 days

Hannah b 24 May 1771 in Danvers (2895, 2896). She d 22 Jun 1830 in Danvers (2897, 2898). Timothy said "June 22, 1830, my dear wife departed this life fifteen minutes before eleven of the clock."


Enoch married second Elizabeth Stratton on 24 May 1778 in Lincoln, Middlesex, MA (2899), 2900). Eben has marriage on 25th. The marriage intention was recorded in Lincoln on 11 May 1778. Elizabeth was born in Lincoln (2901)
