Death
Michael J. Walsh, age 87 of Shakopee entered eternal life on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at his home. Michael is preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae; siblings, Bill, Mooreen, Patricia, Colleen, Bernard and James.Michael was born on January 11, 1932 in Duluth, Minnesota, the son of Harvey and Jane (Moore) Walsh. He married Anna Mae Smith on December 27, 1955 in Nashwauk, MN.
Michael graduated from Chisholm High School and enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served during the Korean War. Following the war, Michael graduated from St. Cloud State Teachers College and the University of St. Thomas, where he graduated with a master’s degree. He continued his education at Mankato State University and received his administration certification.
Michael started his teaching career in Red Lake Falls, MN as a math teacher. In 1963, his family moved to Shakopee, where he started teaching for the Shakopee School District. Over his 26 years with Shakopee, he worked his way into administrative roles, and retired as the Shakopee High School Principal in 1989.
During retirement, Michael enjoyed traveling, reading, woodworking and golfing. He always looked forward to a coffee get-together with friends, especially with old friends who he had taught with over time. Michael was also a member of the Shakopee Lions Club and Knights of Columbus.
