They got their marriage license in Caswell Co, NC but they were married by Baptist minister at home of her father, George Butler, in Halifax County Virginia.Military
Rev War SoldierAnthony Hall of Perry Co, KY was a private in the company commanded by Capt Bowyer of the 7th VA regiment commanded bu Colonel Campbell in the Virginia line for a term of 1 year from June 1777 to June 1778. He was honorably discharged in Cazewell Co, NC. Then he immediately enlisted again for three years in the company commanded by Capt Donoho in the North Carolina regiment commanded by Colonel Lytle in the North Carolina line. He served until the Siege of Charlestown, S.C. where he was taken prisoner by British and was afterwards put on parole and never got exchanged until the time the war was over. He was discharged at Charlestown at the end of the war. He received an invalid pension in 1825 and his widow, Ruth, received a widow's pension until her death in 1854.
Edward Polly was acquainted with Anthony Hall in the Rev War. They served together in the 1st and 2nd enlistments. Hall was taken prisoner of the Siege of Charlestown and "I never seen him any more until the close of the war."

Anthony Hall served in the Revolutionary War,enlisted in the 7th Virginia Continental Line, Commanded by Colonel William Campbell and Captain Bowyers. Anthony enlisted on 10 June, 1777 in Halifax Co., Virginia for a term of one year.He was discharged on 9 June, 1778, in Caswell Co., North Carolina. He again enlisted for a term of three years under Lieutenant Colonel Archibald Lytle and Capt. John Donoho. He was in the 2nd Regular North Carolina Continental Line. He was taken prisoner in the seige of Charleston, South Carolina on the 10 May, 1780. He remained a prisoner of the British until the end of the war.
Sometime between 1800 and 1808 Anthony and Ruth Butler Hall moved through Southwestern Virginia, through Pound Gap and into Knox County, Kentucky. Anthony was listed as one of the early settlers of Knox County. By 1816 whether by county line changes of slight movement north and eastward, Anthony was living in Floyd County.(edited from the Hepple3 Family Register)
