RITES TODAY FOR GEORGE REICHERT
Came to Lake View Township in 1899
Requim Mass was conducted at the Holy Rosary church this morning for George Michael Reichert, a resident of the community for 41 years, who died Monday at St. Mary's hospital where he had been a patient for nine days. He was 83 years old.
Father Charles officiated at the rites. Pallbearers were Ed. Disse, Louis Eidenschink, George Haas, Martin Davis, George D. McCarthy, Steve Evans and Emil Herda.
During his early years in Lake View township, Mr. Reichert served as an overseer. He was a member of the Holy Rosary parish and was affiliated with the St. Charles Court of the Catholics Order of Forester.
Mr. Reichert was born September 6, 1857, in Waldsee, Bayern, Germany to Mr. and Mrs. Nicholaus Reichert. He attended school in Germany as a boy and came to America when he was 21 years old. He lived first in St. Paul and then went to Adrian. While there he married Margaret Seiran, and the couple moved to Lake View township in 1899. Mrs. Reichert passed away in 1930.
Surviving are William Reichert, Strathcona; Matt Reichert, Mrs. Carl (Caroline) Snyder, and Mrs. Ralph (Annie) Eidenschink, all of Detroit Lakes; and Mrs. Emil (Frances) Svier, Badger, Minn. One son, Michael died in 1919, and a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Barbara) Lehman died in 1935. There are 38 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren living.
