Individual Details
Joseph Huffman Mauzy
(12 Apr 1851 - )
Joesph Mauzy and wife, Emma, lived at Mauzy on the Valley Pike - The Long Grey Trail - a few miles north of Lacey Spring. In the days of the stage coach it was a stopping point for a change of horses and rest.
Joseph lived on the former home of his father, where he was born. He was known as a well to do stock farmer, and the owner of a large tract of land, which, as the sole heir of his father, he inherited from the latter.
Their home was across the Pike from the old tavern. Joseph Mauzy and Emma have generously maintained the Mauzy tradition of hospitality, which, being handed down from the ld tavern days, has been interpreted to include those in need.
