Samuel was a cordwainer, a shoemaker.
He lived in Falmouth and died there in 1718. His wife Lydia was admitted to Barnstable Church 5 Oct 1701 and daughter Keriah and Lydia were baptized on 9 Nov following Samuel, James, and Zaccheus 7 June 1702, Edward 2 July 1704 Anne 1 Sept 1706. His other children probably baptized in Falmouth. He probably resided some time in Chilmark. The name of his eldest child appears to be Eleazor or perhaps Ebenezer. On church records it is spelled Kerziah.

He married Lydia ______ )surname undiscovered), and died in Falmouth, Massachusetts, 1718. He was a cordwainer and a farmer. Otis says he probaly resided some time at Chilmark, where his sons, Samuel and Zacheus, were owners of a large tract of land extending from Neconaca Head line to the Sound. In the distribution of his estate, February 20, 1723/4, the ages of the youngest five are given, and Samuel, Jr, was appointed their guardian. He left real estate valued at 250 Pounds. Lydia Hatch died and was buried, December 1, _____ (torn).

Jonathan's son, Samuel Hatch was probably born in 1659 and lived in Barnstable county, MA, where he died before Aug 8, 1718 in the same place. Little is known of Samuel, however he was married to Lydia before 1693 and that he was a worker in leather who made boots and shoes. He and Lydia had 12 children.

There is no evidence for this common misconception. Torrey states that Samuel married a Lydia, not Lydia Young. Furthermore, Lydia Young was married to someone else.
