Obituary:
Louis B. Holmes, 73, Rt. 3, a retired employ of the Great Northern Railway Co. died at the St Cloud Hospital on Monday. He was born March 4, 1896, at Clarksville, Iowa, to John and Carrie Holmes and married Ellen Eva Yager in St Cloud.
He was employed as a machinist by the Great Northern Railway Co. for 50 years and retired in 1965.
He was a life member of Veteran's Association of the Great Northern Railway, a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Carmen of America, Veterans of World War I Barrack 668, North Star Lodge 23, St Cloud Chapter 10, Royal Arch Masons, Nazarene Commandry 24, Knights Templar, Osman Temple and Legion of Honor. He was an honorary member of the Legion of Honor.
Mr. Holmes is survivied by his widow; two sons, Calvin and Edward, St Cloud, three grandchildren; and a brother, Oscar, St Cloud. He was preceeded in death by two sisters.
Funeral Services are held at 10 am Thursday at the First United Methodist Church with burial in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Friends may call at the Daniel Funeral Home after 2pm Wednesday.
