Found in Lunenberg Co., Va. 1753 Land Records, Halifax Co. court action with son David. Edward and David recorded as Pauley's in Halifax Co. voting records of 1764 with Edward and David. Estate Settlement March 1771 in Pittsylvania Co., Va. Deeds, along with one recorded in Pittsylvania Co, Va. in 1769 where Joseph and Peter Polly are witnesses (Pittsylvania Co Deeds 1:313), give us the basic identifiable family for Edward Polly, Sr. Peter Polly is also a tithable list with Edward Polly in 1770. There is a James Pauley on the 1767 Title list along with David Polly and Edward Polley, Jr. (Pittsylvania Co. Tithes, List 9, p.17, List 11, p.20, List 14, p.27)

From the records we can be sure that David, Edward and Margaret were children of Edward Polly Sr. We can speculate (not prove) that Joseph, James and Peter may have been his sons. Joseph may have also been Peter's father.

Born in area of Surry County, Va. later became Brunswick, then Halifax, then Pittsylvania Co. in 1767. Found in Halifax Co, Va. Oct. 1992 by Helen Polly, entry in a Vestry Book of Antrim Parish "Ordered that Edward Polly Senr. be set Levy free for the future, 21st day of Dec, 1759," which indicates he had reached age 59 in 1759. Believed to have died between August 1770 when Edward Polly Sr. sued John Cook for 2 pounds, 5 shillings and son by default. In Halafax County, Va. Edward Polly, Joseph Polly and Edward Polly, Sr. witnessed a deed 1/20/1757. A David Pauley, son of Edward Pauley was exempted from paying public and county leview 9/19/1754, Helen Polly speculates that this David may have been an older brother of Edward Polly Sr. and that their father was also named Edward. A Joseph Polly owned 400 acres adjoining Edward Polly in 1762. There is also a James Polly mentioned in a March 1770 Pittsylvania county court case and James may have been a son of either Edward Polley Jr or Sr. None of the relationships are verifiable from these documents.
