Husband of Phebe (Carriel) Woodbury. They married 26-Nov-1789 in Sutton.
Both the death record and the gravestone have Ens. John Woodbury. In the genealogical section of the History of Sutton, 1704 - 1876, Page 753 is stated "ensign in the militia". The 5th Reg., 1st Brig., 7th Div. of the Massachusetts Volunteer Militia was based in the Sutton-Oxford area. On Pg. 180 of Roster No. 2, 1796 - 1805 (a/k/a Volume 2) is record of his promotion to Ensign on 16-March-1801. No record of date of enlistment or discharge has been found. (Records were at the Massachusetts National Guard Museum in Concord. May have been relocated to the Massachusetts State Archives in Dorchester.)
