Harold Frank LAFFLING
(1905 - 1977)
This is assumed to be the Frank Laffling at Bramford in the 1911 cenus, the stepson of Frank & Elizabeth Lay but whose birth was registered as Harold Frank.
A Mary Elzabeth Laffling married Frank Wm Lay in 2/4 1906 in Bosmere. Of course she could have ben a widow remarrying, but she fits neatly the Mary Elizabeth Laflin born in 1883 in Nettlestead ( where Elizabeth Lay gives her birth)
This would make him her illegitimate son.
Interestingly Frank Harold was born 3/4 1905 whilst Elizabeth married Frank Wm Lay in 2/4 1906, suggesting he might have been the father (especially as she named him Frank) but she had already registered him as a Laffling. However, he is in the census as stepson, rather than son.
Their daughter's birth, Annie Lay, was registered 3/4 1906 implying she was pregnant by him before their marriage. Perhaps it was this 2nd prgnancy which prompted the marriage
