Ellen was a founder member of the Somersham W.I. Because of her husbands illness she had to work picking fruit and chopping asparagus and was caretaker of Somersham Baptist Church.On her 100th birthday she was visited by the Mayor of Ipswich at the Council home for the elderly in Congeave Road. There was a party with a Victorian theme and old time muscic hall
