Russell Lawrence in Lawrence and Related Families proposes several connections to David Wesley Lawrence.
One is that he was a member of Austin's Colony in Texas. This Lawrence family is now known to be that of Adam Lawrence (and his son David) and is not believed to be related.
There is a record of a David Lawrence selling a "negro man named Armstead aged 27 years, a slave for life, for $700.00 in Washington County." This is a possibility, due to the comment by Palmyra Finley Garrett that indicated David Wesley was selling Olivia's slaves in Texas.
Another Washington County record shows that on 9-24-1838, a David Lawrence relinquished his claim as administrator of the estate of John Lawrence, deceased, to J. S. Hunter, who married Sarah Lawrence the widow of the late John Lawrence.
