Miscellaneous
Andrew Lowrance of Rowan County, North Carolina died c 1813. His estate settlement began on 8-24-1813, when his estate administer, Joel McCorkle, allowed one year's of provisions from Andrew's estate to his family. These provisions included all the corn and wheat on his plantation, a three year-old steer, one milk cow and calf, five hogs (barrows) and two sows.Other Andrew Lowrance estate transactions are as follows:
On 2-14-1817, Administrator McCorkle reported a balance £182.17 in cash due the heirs.
On 2-17-1817, Daniel Lowrance, John Freeze (Frieze), and Hannah Lowrance signed a bond of $500 to Joseph Pearson, Maurice Davis, and James [?] Grissom for the purpose of appointing Daniel Lowrance the guardian of John B. Lowrance, orphan of Andrew Lowarance. Daniel Lowrance was to manage the John B. Lowrance's share of his father's estate until John B. Lowrance became of lawful age. This agreement was signed by all parties in what appears to be their actual signatures (John Frieze, using the Frieze spelling of his name, rather than Freeze, as the name is spelled in other parts of the document.)
On 12-24-1819, the heirs of Andrew Lowrance agreed to the division of Andrew's land in a document showing a diagram of the property and it's division into sections numbered 1-5, with the widow's dower marked as a portion of sections 1-3. Two other separate tracts of land were also numbered as 6-8, and that land was apportioned to the remaining heirs.
Note: this document was filed for record in the Rowan County, North Carolina Book A, page 382, but not until 11-7-1827.
Section No. 1: contained 93 acres and was given to Joseph Lowrance and bordered on land belonging to Joshua Lowrance (probably Andrew's nephew, son of John Lowrance) and George McCulloch.
Section No. 2: contained 79 acres and was given to John Frieze for Andrew's widow Hannah or her daughters. This land bordered land owned by Andrew Ramsey, William Barr, George Andrews, and Joshua Lowrance.
Section No. 3: contained 90 acres and was given to John M. Lowrance. This land bordered on land owned by George Andrews, James Andrews, and Mrs. McCorkle.
Section No. 4: contained 60 acres and was given to William Wasson for his wife Elizabeth, daughter of Andrew Lowrance. This land bordered on land owned by George McCulloch and Mrs. McCorkle.

Section No. 6: A separate 100 acre tract of land, not part of Andrew's plantation that was divided into sections 1-5, was given to Daniel Lowrance, son of Andrew, who currently lived on the land. Andrew Lowrance purchased this land from Abraham Groves on 9-7-1808, as recorded in Rowan County, North Carolina, Book No. 2, page 102. This land bordered on land owned by Woods, Charles Downs, and John Lowrance ( probably Andrew's nephew, son of John Lowrance, Sr.)
Section No. 7: Another separate tract of land partly in Iredell County was divided into two sections (7 and 8) and portion No. 7 of 67 acres was given to Joel Lowrance. This land bordered on land owned by John Lowrance and Charles Downs.
