During the 1960s, as Industrial Agent for the Texas and Pacific Railroad, Russell Elvis Lawrence received commendation from Gov. John McKeithen of Louisiana, made business trips to promote Louisiana as industrial sites, and was elected to the Board of Louisiana Industrial Development Association.
In 1973, he was elected Chairman of the Dallas Area Industrial Development Association.
