Gene Taylor, Sr. was a member of the Merchant Marines in WW II.He later worked for Conoco in the oil fields at Hobbs, NM; Texas; and Libya, Africa. He was working in Libya during the time Gaddafi assumed control of the country, and his family, who were living in Tripoli at the time, had to be evacuated to Malta. After some uncertainty about Gene Taylor's safety he was able to join his family in Malta.
