Leu George Skeels

(21 Mar 1881 - 16 May 1960)

Leu passed away on 5/16/1960 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, WI. He was a native of Eau Claire and worked in the sawmills and linen mils in his youth. He became a bricklayer and joined the local bricklayer's union in 1902, the year it was chartered. He homesteaded in Saskatchewan, Canada and contracted in Regina, Saskatchewan for a few years. He returned to Eau Claire in 1917 when he entered the construction business under the name of L.G. Skeels, Co. He as a member of the Christian Science Church, Masonic Lodge 112, held a life membership in he Eau Claire Consistory and in Tripoli Shrine, in which he was an ambassador, was a member of the Order of Eastern Star 126, Cherith Shrine, the Chamber of Commerce, and the American Numismatic Association.

At the time of his passing, he was survived by his: (2nd) wife Hazel; two sons, George of Springfield, OR and Henry of Eau Claire, WI; a daughter Mrs. Marilyn and George Anderson of Chippewa Falls, WI; two brothers, Edward of Auburn, CA and Charles of Tribes Hill, NY; 14 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
