Individual Details

Rev Stephen A. Timmons

(6 Aug 1769 - 20 Sep 1849)

In March, 1802, Stephen Timmons was married to Milly Brown, the eldest daughter of White Brown, before mentioned. He bought two hundred and fifty acres of land in what was the Rolin's Prairie on Waugh's Run, a branch of Deer Creek, about eleven miles northwest from Chillicothe, in what is now Deerfield Township, Ross County, and built a little hickory cabin sixteen feet square. There were no neighbors nearer than one mile, and none between him and the Indians in the West, which stretched far out before him without a single white inhabitant. He could say with Selkirk,"I am monarch of all I survey, my rights there are none to dispute, etc." SEE PAPER NOTES ON REV. STEPHEN TIMMONS
