His father, Landon Carter, Sr. who died at Sabine Hall, 10 Aug 1778, was Chairman of the Committee of Safety and is designated as having served as a Patriot.

One served in Col Sevier's Regt. in NC as a Capt. - he was born 1760 in Virginia, married to Elizabeth Maclin and died Jun 1800 in Carter Co, TN.
Another Landon Carter is said to have served under Capt. Has, Col. Spotswood, in the 2nd VA Continental Line. He was born about 1758 in Caroline Co VA and died 5 Sep 1838 in Stokes Co, NC His was was a Mary, surname unknown.

SAR application of John Paul Duncan states that a Will for Landon Carter Jr who married Judith Fauntleroy, was probated 6 Jul 1801, probably Prince William Co [the app is very faded and difficult to read]
