Consider Tiffany

(15 Mar 1732/33 - 19 Jun 1796)

From TIFFANYS OF AMERICA, HISTORY AND GENEALOGY; Nelson Otis Tiffany: Consider served in the Capt. William Lamson's Co in the French & Indian War of 1756. He served as Sgt. & Clerk of the Co and made a list of his company which included Samuel Comstock of Saybrook CT, no doubt a kinsman. He wrote the following to his parents while in camp which indicates his brother Luther may have also served:
Honorable Father and Living Mother [stepmother as his mother Naomi Comstock had died in 1743 when he was 10]
My duty to you, and my love to all my brothers and sisters. I take this opportunity to let you know that I and my brother is well and well contented, all but being absent from you. I write to you that Capt. Rogers has been out and brought in three prisoners and the Stockbridge Indians has brought in two scalps. We expect to come up home this fall, if nothing extraordinary happens. I desire to be remembered, my duty to you and my love to all my brothers and friends. No more at present. I remain.
Your dutiful and obedient son.
Sept 30, 1756.
