Green Winford was indicted by the grand jury for stealing a horse from his father and selling it. Although living in the city, he was fighting shy. Sheriff Hawkins, learning that he was at Fayetteville, telegraphed his arrest and went up last Friday and brought him down and on Tuesday he was tried and found guilty and sentenced to five years in the penitentiary. A man that would steal a horse from a poor, and almost blind father, deserved a longer time.
Note: The 1880 census did not indicate any disability for James S. Winford.
George is said to have died Eastern State Hospital, Vinita, Craig Co and was buried 20 Sep 1929, Fairview Cemetery, Vinita.
