The Hardins were originally from VA, but came to KY from western PA as did the Van Meters and Garrards, possibly from the Frederick Co area of VA.
1751 - his father died in Frederick Co, VA were Owen also owned land
1752 - Jan 8, survey of a 400 acre grant to Owen made by Col. George Washington
1752 - Oct 3, "tract of 400 acres granted to said Owen Thomas by deed in the hand and seal of the Right Honorable Thomas (Lord) Fairfax" these were adjoining the lands of Col. George Washington.
1755 - married Mary Polly Hardin

1763 - Apr 10, son John was born
1765 - Oct 1, leased to Joseph Thompson 50 ac on south side of Bullskin marsh in Fredrick Co, VA
1766 - son, Hardin was born in Pr Wm Co, Va
1771 - Sep 12, (Frederick Co, Va Deed BK 15, p 167) recording the sale for 330 pounds of 350 acres near the head spring of Bullskin Run to Phillip Pendleton
1771 - Owen sold his lands in VA and removed to Fayette Co, PA
1780 - it is said that the Thomas & Hardins came to KY with Daniel Boone
1785 - took up residence in Nelson Co, KY (now Washington Co)
1792 - Washington Co, KY tax list shows Owen with 100 acres
1802 - Jocob Young, while making his first round of his circuit tells of calling on the Thomas' meeting house, six miles from Lebanon
1808 - Apr, died in what was Washington Co & is now Marion Co., KY
Burial: Thomas Chapel Methodist Burying Ground
1808 - Apr 14,15 (Washington Co BK A pages 507-512 inventory of estate taken by James Mathew, Robert Buchler & Philip Davis; apprised 93 lbs, 575 shs, 175 d. or 120 1/2 pounds (abt $600 in US)
1808 - Apr 18, sale of inventory, purchases by: Hardin Thomas, Eno Thomas, John Thomas, Harry Thomas, Isaac Thomas, Lewis Thomas, Martin Hardin, James Hubanks, Anthony Swelling, Philip Davis, Jo Whitehead, Martha Cary, John Maxwell, and Barcel Matting.
