EDWIN P. DEFFENBAUGH, 72, of 307 So. 13th Street, Van Buren, AR, died Monday, April 16th, in a Van Buren hospital. He was retired from Sparkman Quality Clothiers and he attended the Rena Christian Church. A lifelong Van Buren resident, Deffenbaugh was an Army veteran and served in the Phillipines and the Western Pacific.
Funeral will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in Ocker Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at U.S. National Cemetery (Fort Smith).
He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Mary Jo Arick of North Little Rock; three sons, Gary of Paris, AR, Danny of Van Buren, and Jerry of Knoxville, TN; three sisters, Blanche Brewer of Van Buren, Mary Brasuell of Los Angeles, CA, and Ruth Shaffer of Sedelia, MO; a brother, Wallace of Dallas, TX and 12 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gene Bell, George Batchelor, Earl Robinson, John Danchiu, Elliott Sparkman, and Ernest Yeager.
Edwin served as private in the US Army, World War II.
