Gaylord Martin Arnold, passed away Friday, July 28, 2006 at the age of 77, surrounded by his wife, Caroline and loved ones at home. He was born July 15, 1929 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Ernest and Vida (Jackson) Arnold. He grew up in the Deming, New Mexico area and moved to Portland, Oregon in 1944.
Gaylord was in the military from 1946 to 1949, spending two and a half years of that time in Italy. After returning to Portland, he married Ardith Steinkirchner [16 Sep 1950], had three children and worked for the phone company. He relocated to Yakima in 1963 where he met Caroline (Metz) Yeager and her seven children. They were married in 1964. Gaylord loved their home in Terrace Heights and the time he spent with the children, family and going dancing with his wife. Other favorite hobbies included hunting and fishing, trips to Alaska and involvement with race horses.
Survivors include his wife, Caroline Arnold of Yakima; son Lance (Sandy) Arnold of Enumclaw; daughter Erin (Dale) Royal of Clarkston, MI; four stepdaughters, Denise Yeager of Yakima, Theresa (Craig) Rundell of Underwood, WA, Sheryl (Chris) Mart of White Salmon, WA, Diane (Randy) Peterson of Woodland, WA; two stepsons Royce Yeager of Soldotna, AK, Randy Yeager of Slidell, LA, son-in-law, Rudy Apodaca; his sister, Greta Lindstrom of Bend, OR; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Rhett Arnold, stepdaughter, Kathryn Apodaca, and sister, Vida Jo Wentzel.
