Donald Ray Jones

Donnie Ray Jones, 59, of Sunbright, passed away September 23, 2007, at the Scott County Hospital in Oneida. Born March 31, 1948, he was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Nettie Jeffers Jones; two sisters, Mabel Christeen Warren and Nola Jane Vihlen; and three brothers: Earl R., Ronald M., and Herman Jones, Jr. He was a Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Oneida Post #5669, and District II Surgeons Dept. of Tennessee. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War; and had accepted Christ as his Savior. He is survived by three sisters: Shirley Parton and husband, Clyde, of Oneida, Sue Bowling of Indianapolis, Ind., and Clara Byrge and husband, Leslie, of Newport News, Va.; five brothers: Tom Jones of the Wartburg Nursing Home, Frank Jones of Elgin, Fred Jones of Sebestan, Fla., Carl Jones of Deer Lodge, and Allen Jones and wife, Wanda, of Oneida; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives. Military funeral service was conducted September 25, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Chaplain Kenny VanHook officiating. Graveside service was to be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27, at Black Creek Crossroads Cemetery with full military honors conducted by American Legion Post #136 of Oneida.
