Airport manager charged in holiday slaying of teen
The manager of the Bullhead City airport has been charged with the murder of a 15-year-old high school girl.....
Mohave County sheriff's detective Bob Melton said Calvin H. Brown, 51 was charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping and attempted sexual assault in the christmas Dayslaying of Victoria Sharp, a sophomore at Mohave Valey High School.
Justive of the Peace Harold Pershall ordered Brown held without bail after a hearing yesterday.
Melton said Sharp was riding her bicycle thursday afternoon when she was abducted about six blocks from her home the detective said she was taken to a cul-de-sac near town, where her abductor tried to rape her and then shot her in the face and neck with a .22-caliber pistol.
The officer said Brown came to the sheriff's substation Thursday night and turned over the weapon.
Authoritis said, Brown, a divorced man, had been employed by the airport for 7 1/2 years and lived therein a mobile home. an acquaintance described him as "friendly, with enemies in the world."
Sharp, reported to be an "above-average" student at school, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sharp, who had moved to Bullhead city from Sparks, Nev., early this year.
