"Irene E. Main - AUBURN - Irene E. Main, 89, of Auburn, passed away Friday, June 14, 2013. Irene was born in Scipio, the daughter of the late Otto and Harriet Hoskins Post and resided in Cayuga County for most of her life. Irene attended Cazenovia College and later received an associate’s degree from Delhi Community College. She managed her own business in direct mail and printing for 15 years before assuming the position of administrator for Westminster Manor. Irene was a volunteer in the Peace Corps from 1987 to 1989 in Togo, West Africa, and later volunteered in Juneau, Alaska at the Glory Hole Homeless Shelter. Irene was a longtime member of the Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting and the Zonta Club of Auburn. Surviving is one son, Russell H. Main, of Scipio Center; four daughters, Virginia L. Detrick and her husband, Dane, of Rochester, Janet H. Shea and her husband, James, of Scipio Center, Vivian M. Cunningham, of Scipio Center, and Laura F. Evans and her husband, John of Rockville, Md.; one sister-in-law, Muriel Post, of Scipio Center; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 12 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Irene was predeceased by her three brothers, Allen, Everett, and Ray Post, and one sister, Marian Post. A memorial service will be held at a later date and time. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting, P.O. Box 146, Aurora, NY 13026, in memory of Irene E. Main. The Brew Funeral Home of Auburn is in charge of arrangements."
