Billy Ray Brown, 75, of Rudy passed away Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, in his home. He was a self-employed plumbing contractor, a sod farm operator and an Army veteran. He became a Christian when he was 60 years old and served the Lord faithfully ever since. He was always eager to share his story of how it's never too late. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals and fishing. He was a member of Oliver Springs Free Will Baptist Church in Rudy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Lorene (Willis) Brown; two sisters, Rita Rester and Vivian White; and two brothers, Jerry and Glen Brown.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Ocker Memorial Chapel with burial at Oliver Springs Cemetery in Rudy under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Donna Faye (Hall) Brown of the home; one daughter, Sherry Hays and husband Dr. Elliott Hays of Van Buren; two sons, Dr. Ricky Brown and wife Teresa of El Dorado and Kevin Brown of Van Buren; one sister, Belva Batson of Texas; nine grandchildren, Summer Shook, Audrea Martin, Nicole Hays, Eli Hays, Hannah Brown, Austin Brown, Caitlin Brown, Kristin Kuykendall and Erica Brown; nine great-grandchildren with another one due in December; and many, many friends.
Family will visit with relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson St., Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Eli Hays, Austin Brown, Michael Kuykendall, Brad Martin, Travis Shook, Elliott Hays and Larry Cooper.
