CARTERVILLE, Mo. - Gerald D. Wright, 81, a retired mechanic, passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016.
Gerald “Jerry” was born in 1935 in Kiowa, KS and later moved to Newhall, California where he served as a Private First Cass in the
United States Army, while living in California he was an active member and former Governor of the Newhall Moose Lodge. He spent most of his life As an auto mechanic and later opened a small engine repair shop in Webb City, MO.
After retiring, Jerry and his brother Richard, spent 14 years living in Shell Knob, MO. They became known as the Wright brothers as they loved spending time on the porch waving and visiting with all the neighbors, they spent hours antiquing and going to garage sales, Jerry loved taking old fishing p9oles and reels and making them new again. He had collected hundreds of rods and reels and a few years ago donated a huge collection to the Barry County Museum. Spending time with family and fishing were two of his favorite things. He enjoyed life and felt blessed to live as long as he did. He and our family are very grateful for all the wonderful care he received at various Veterans Hospitals though the years. Jerry was a very loving dad, grandpa, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Preceded in death by his parents Rollie L & Josephine (Coberley) Wright, sister Florine (Wright) Miller and Brothers James L Wright, Edmond L Wright and Richard E Wright.
He is survived by his children Pete Wright and wife Gina, Chuck Wright and wife Christ, Jerri (Wright) Sargent and husband Lonnie, and their mother Shirley (Allen, Wright) Cullum, Also survived by three grandchildren, whom he adored; Kyle and Christian Wright and Kamaryn Sargent, Siblings David D Wright, Betty A (Wright) Comstock, Bertha Jo (Wright) and husband Tom Mendon
