John Truman Mills was born on October 26, 1947 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
John of Uniontown, Arkansas area departed this life on Sunday, February 21st 2021.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Angela; children John and Sandra of Germany, Deborah and Trent of Sallisaw, Mark and Crystal of Van Buren, Kendra and Brett of Uniontown; 7 siblings, Shelba, Judy, Jeryl, Yvonne, David, Daniel, Della; 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
John went to school in Cedarville, Arkansas and later joined the military after high school. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and returned to Uniontown, Arkansas after 10 years overseas. John also served as a member of the Army National Guard 296 Medical Division stationed in Charleston, Arkansas. He worked for the Whirlpool Corporation in Fort Smith for 30+ years until the plant closed. He was a member of the Uniontown Baptist Church since 1963 and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior before departing.
John enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting in his younger years, helping when and where he was able to within the community, and spending time with friends and family.
There will be a viewing for friends and family on Thursday, February 25th at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith from 12pm to 5pm as well as a service at the National Cemetery on Friday, February 26th at 3pm.
