Son of Charles Bain Wilkinson, Sr. and Lenna W. Wall. Married to Bobbie Lou Willis in 1950.
He worked for United Spinners in Lowell, NC before WWII. He served with Co. B of the 13th Infantry Regt of the 8th Inf. Division during the War. He was wounded in action on Feb. 19, 1945 in Germany. He went to a General Hospital, where he was found to have a compound fracture of the tibia due to artillery shell fragments. Gangrene set in. He received penicillin therapy, but amputation (loss of one leg) was required. He was released in January 1946 for a disability discharge...
