Mrs. Judy Thompson Critcher, 101, of 21 Azalea Drive, DeBary, Fla., a former resident of Watauga County, N.C. died Thursday, March 27, 2008, in DeBary.
She was born Dec. 10, 1906 in Avery County, N.C. a daughter of the late Samuel and Vesta Cook Thompson.
Mrs. Critcher was a homemaker and a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church.
Survivors include five sons, Harry Critcher and wife, Wanda, of Boone, Reggie Critcher and wife, Debbie, of Wilkesboro, John Critcher and wife, Dana, of Boone, Rev. David Critcher and wife, Linda, of Meadowview, Va., and Stephen Critcher of Boone; one daughter, Erma Rhea Davison and husband, George, of DeBary, Fla.; two step-sons, Edward Critcher and wife, Vee, and Truman Critcher and wife, Lenore, all of Boone; two step daughters-in-law, Ester Critcher, and Ann Critcher, both of Boone; one half-brother, Jack Thompson and wife, Remona; and one step-sister, Faye Crisp, all of Hudson.
She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, 17 step great-grandchildren, and two step great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carnie Carlton Critcher; three step-sons, Carlton , Howard, and Richard Critcher; six brothers, Willie, Albert, Johnny, Floyd, Andy, and Arthur Thompson; one sister, Lahoma; three half-sisters, Katherine, Joyce, and Lori; one step-grandson, Jeff Critcher, and three infant brothers and sister.
Services will be conducted Monday afternoon, March 31, 2008, at 1:00 o'clock, at Mount Vernon Baptist Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 12:00 until 1:00 o'clock.
Officiating will be the Rev. David Critcher, the Rev. George Davison, and the Rev. Bud Russell.
Burial will follow in the CRITCHER CEMETERY.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Erma and George Davison, for the many years as caretakers.
