Bland W. Ballard of Shelby Co KY was Capt in the 1st Rifle Regt. Pension started May 22, 1821. $120 annually. [From Kentucky Pension Roll of 1835]
Enlisted Spring of 1779 in Spotsylvania Co VA. Discharged by Gen. Clark at the Falls of Ohio, Christmas 1781. He continued with Gen. Geo. R. Clark for many years as a hunter and spy until 1794 He was a Captain under Mad Anthony Wayne at the battle of the River Raisin in the War of 1812 as well. He received a pension for wounds received in that battle. He married Elizabeth Weaver Garrett, a widow, in Shelby Co KY on 28 Oct 1841. She received his pension after his death - #W-20655.

Died 5 Sep 1853 at the age of 94 years.
