Served in the CCC during the depression when he was 14-15 years old to help the family. Military like camp that did construction. Made $30/month, $25 had to be sent home to family. Program set by FDR during the depression. Each camp had 200 men serving.

Married a second time to Lula Mae Wright - it was also her second marriage.
