Individual Details

Olive Judith "Judy" Perkins

(17 May 1821 or 1824 - 4 Nov 1904)

Listed on the 1850 Census as Olive J. living with her brother Benjamin? Enumerated next door to William F. Haden & Mary Jane.

Helen Small says that there was also a daughter named Olive - certainly seems likely there could have been other children, but I've found no evidence of any. Bob Dillard tells me that John Wilson was a Confederate sympathizer during the war - but that seems evident from the names of his twin sons. The twin sons are believed to have never married. This family said to be buried Marionville Cemetery, Lawrence Co MO.

In 1860, 32 citizens petitioned the Ozark Presbytery to establish a Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Marionville. Olive Wilson is listed. They organized 4 Apr 1860 with Robert Waters as their pastor.

Living with the family in Marionville in the 1870 Census were John L. Hite, age 41, a miller born in Florida and Joseph & Frank Biggs, ages 31 & 27, blacksmiths born in Pennsylvania.

1900, Buck Prairie, Lawrence Co MO, p.94A, Olive J. Wilson was head of household. Age 76, born May 1824. She had three children, three living. J. Lee and S. Price, aged 38, were born Nov of 1861. Their occupation is given as "Capitalist".

Olive J. wife of John, John, and Nancy wife of James Wilson [John's mother] are said to have all their names on one stone at the Marionville MO I00F Cemetery. Helen Small gave her date of birth from the grave marker as 17 May 1821. This is likely incorrect since her brother William Grief's grave marker gives his date of birth as 31 May 1821.

Interestingly, in the 1850 census, Olive Judy & her brother Benjamin are both listed as age 27 - or born in 1823. I never have found Benjamin since that census - I doubt that they were twins but it's possible. In 1860, Judith is age 37, born 1823. In 1870 Olive is age 45, born 1825. In 1880, Olive, age 56, born 1824. The 1900 census states she was born May, 1824. This seems most likely.
