Robert James Hutchinson
He was one of the oldest residents of Tuscola County, died of cancer Tuesday morning at the home of his son, Joseph Hutchinson of Ellington at the age of 91 years. Mr. Hutchinson was the oldest of five generations of his family a story which appeared in the Advertiser in May of this year. (many years ago), Mr. Hutchinson was born in Mallorytown, Ontario, Dec. 4, 1838.
In 1857 he married Martha Smith who died about 25 yrs. ago. In 1861 he moved to Elwood Township where he cleared a farm of 130 acres which had since been his home.
Four sons survive the father, Joseph Hutchinson of Ellington, Deputy Sheriff, Robert J. Hutchinson of Caro, David and Smith Hutchinson of Cass City. He also leaved an aged brother William Hutchinson of Wellington the only survivor of eight children. A large number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews are left to mourn.
Furneral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Sutton Church under the direction of Charles Schriber, Rev Wilson officiating and burial was made in the Ellington Cemetery.
