RONTENAC, KS – Evelyn Gaynell (Kelly) Kotzman, 94, of Frontenac
passed away December 21, 2015 at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS.
She was born March 23, 1921 in Pittsburg to Thomas Patrick and Josephine Burns Kelly. She attended St. Mary’s Colgan through the 8th grade and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1939.
She married Malven Bolinger in 1939. Evelyn Married John Kotzman in Chicago, Illinois on February 3, 1950.
She had worked for Delco Radio and American Can Company in Chicago. Later she was employed at the Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons, KS in the 1960’s.
She was a lifelong member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen Auxiliary in Pittsburg, Moose Lodge in Elgin, Illinois and the American Legion Auxiliary in Frontenac. Her hobbies included crocheting, crossword puzzles and the Lottery.
Survivors include sons James Bolinger of Mulvane, KS and Kurt (Angela) Kotzman of Frontenac, daughters Cyndi Kotzman of Neosho, MO and Lucinda (Tim) Turner of Hutchinson, KS, grandchildren Kellie (Marc) McCully, Katie Kotzman, Kyle (Stephanie) Kotzman all of Frontenac, Shana (Derek) Montford of McPherson, KS, Todd Cummins, Doil Cummins of Pittsburg, Kristi (Van) Williams of Wichita, KS, Kim (Matthew) Joyce of Derby, KS, Jim (Jennifer) Bolinger II Mulvane, KS, and Cody (Jasmine) Wallace of Rogers, AR, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John and an infant son John J. II, daughter Connie Cummins, son-in-law Winford Cummins, daughter –in-law Kay Bolinger, her parents, brother James Kelly and sister Mildred Baker.
Funeral services will be 12pm noon Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at the Friskel Funeral Home, 230 E. McKay in Frontenac, with Father Thomas Stroot, officiating. The vocalist will be Emily Nichelson.
Pallbearers will be Marc McCully, Jimmy Bolinger, Kyle Kotzman, Cody Wallace, Matthew Joyce and Tim Turner.
Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Frontenac. The family will receive friends from 11am to 11:45am Wednesday at the funeral home. The rosary will be prayed at 11:45am Wednesday at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac, KS.
Friends may call after 9 am Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the American Legion Auxiliary of Frontenac.
