TRUMANN - Mr. Ralph D. Burris, 84, of Trumann died Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the family residence. He was born in Winslow, Ark., and had lived in Trumann for the past 14 years and was formerly of California.
Mr. Burris was a retired heavy equipment operator, a veteran of the U.S. Marine and World War II, member of the VFW, Pearl Harbor Survivor Assoc., St. Bernards Auxiliary, Steel Workers Union and a member of the First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by one son, Ralph Burris, one brother, Herman Burris and his parents, Garland M. and Anna G. Barlett Burris.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Jane Gabbard Burris of the home; one daughter and her husband, Carol and Joe Waleszonia of Trumann; one son and his wife, Dennis and Pam Burris of Grass Valley, Calif.; one brother and his wife, Jim Lee and Jan of Los Banos, Tx.; six grandchildren, Alyson Burris of Highland Calif.; Amy Waleszonia of Jonesboro, Tiffany Zorich and John of Pittsburg, Pa., Ron Burris of San Bernardino, Calif., Jody Waleszonia and Ashlee of Jonesboro and Anthony Roth of Roseville, Calif.; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann, Ark., with Dr. Tad Rogers officiating. Burial will be at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Greenwell, Dennis Morgan, Gary Russell, Tom Waleszonia, Dick Lewallen and the St. Bernards Auxiliary.
