Article from LAWYERS AND LAWMAKERS OF KENTUCKY, H. Levin, editor, 1897, p.85, has appeared online. This article gives the birthdate of Mr. Ewing as 4 Dec 1789, in Davidson Co. TN. He studied law at Transylvania University. He was prosecuting attorney in Logan Co and in 1835 was appointed one of the associated judges of the court of appeals, and as Chief Justice in April of 1843, an office in which he served until June of 1847.

Logan Co DB U; p.130 13 Aug 1835 Ephraim M. Ewing to Gilson P & George W. Ewing. Robert Ewing in his lifetime executed a deed to E. M. Ewing for a tract bet the forks of Red River known as the Ross tract, dated 16 May 1825. Sd Robert Ewing afterwards added a part of sd land so deeded to sd Ewing to the connections of land which he wished to leave to sd Gilson P. Ewing & George W. Ewing and leaving by his will devised a portion of sd land to them. E. M. Ewing feeling disposed to see the wishes of his deceased parent carried in full effect. Releases title to Gilson & George.
