Burleson Rites Are Set This Afternoon
Matador, April 21 (special)
Funeral services for Roy Pope Burleson, 56, who died her last Friday midnight will be held in First Baptist Church of Matador at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Clifford Potts, officiating.
Burial services will be in charge of members of the Matador Masonic Lodge of which Mr. Burleson was a member and of which his late father, John burleson, Motley County's first county judge, was an organizer and first Worshipful Master. Interment will be in East Mound cemetery here.
A resident of Matador since he was three months old, Mr. Burleson was brought here by his parents who migrated to Motley county from Commanch county, making the trip in a covered wagon and driving their stock ahead. Formerly a cowman, he has been in the general insurance business here since 1928.
The body of Mr. Burleson will lie in state today from noon until 3 pm in First Baptist church.
