Wayne Douglas Winkler, 79, of Lincoln Avenue, died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 6, 1924, in Estill County, he was the son of the late Willard and Artha Winkler.
He was a retired job setter in the refrigeration division of General Motors Corp., and a graduate of Estill County High School. He served in the Navy during World War II as a Seaman 1st class. He was a member of the Community Christian Church in Hamilton, Ohio, and belonged to the Lincoln Masonic Lodge 693 in Middletown, Ohio, the Scottish Rite and Eastern Star. He was a life member of Danville's VFW Post 3634 and American Legion Post 46. He was a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include his wife, Penny Lutes Winkler; two daughters, Connie Goodlett and Sharon Jones, both of Danville; two sisters, Anna Lou Lay of Irvine and Eva Wood of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; three brothers, Raymond Winkler of Miamisburg, Ohio, Robert Winkler of Hamilton, Ohio, and Greely Winkler of Irvine; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Breitenback-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home in Middletown, Ohio, by the Rev. Scott Swelbar. Burial will be in Butler County Memorial Park in Hamilton, Ohio.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in Ohio.
