Andrew Marion Parker

(1835 - 1863)



During the Civil War, he joined as a private in Company F, 89th Reg., Indiana Volunteers on 12 Aug. 1862, and was mustered into the U.S, Army at Indianapolis, Indiana on the 29th of August, 1862 for a three year term. He served until Jan. 22, 1863 and then was discharged at Indianapolis on a surgeons certificate of disability. The cause was given as "Incipient Phthsis Pulmonalis"- (tuberculosis of the lungs) which existed prior to his enlistment according to his discharge papers.
He was captured at the Battle of Mumfordsville, near Bowling Green, Kentucky and exchanged at Mumfordsville on the 17th of Sep 1862.
After his discharge he returned to his home in Howard County. He died of Chronic Diarrhea (as shown on his death certificate) on Feb 15, 1863.
